Eat a healthy diet, including at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables every day

Regularly eat foods rich in plant oestrogens such as soya and linseed

Include low fat dairy foods every day to keep calcium intake high

Look after your heart by eating fish at least a couple of times a week, including one portion of oily fish such as salmon. Also try and limit salt and saturated fats

Moderate alcohol intake to no more than 2 units per day, and remember to include alcohol free days

Sleep in a cool room

Learn to relax and develop effective ways of dealing with stress (meditation, massage etc)

Take regular exercise of moderate intensity

Maintain or take steps to achieve a healthy body weight

Have your blood pressure checked regularly

If you have diabetes, ensure that your blood sugar is well controlled
